Meet the Artist - Deepti Mittal

Listening to the call of her heart, Deepti Agrawal Mittal has come a long way in taking forward the traditional art form of Madhubani Painting, and in this process, developed and created whole new genre of art which she calls Modern Madhubani.
She is credited for starting online Madhubani Painting classes which are self-paced, interactive and have become popular with art lovers around the globe.

A multi-faceted artist, Deepti  has covered a wide range of mediums and forms. From home accents, kitchen decor to personal wardrobe, she has practically touched every aspect of life with her paint brush. The latest sensation after her hand painted leather shoes, are her exclusive line of designer leather hand-bags known as “La Sak", got sold-out within 48 hours of its launch.

Bidding farewell to a high-flying main-stream corporate career for an uncertain and scantily-paid field of art, wasn't a straightforward and easy decision for Deepti. After her MBA and serving in the corporate world for initial couple of years, her profound passion for art couldn't lay dormant anymore. She took this leap of faith into an altogether different area not so professionally recognized even to this day.

Her creative stimuli, persistence and passion paid off. Taking it forward one step at a time, she is capitalizing on her experience in this ancient folk and her interest in the contemporary styles to create a new genres of art which appeal to the modern tastes and interests.  Her canvases are in galleries across USA and her paintings are featured in global art magazines. Since her art pieces inspired with spirituality are deemed antarctic, they are invited for shows in cancer centers in the New England area of USA.

From making greeting cards to painting on sarees and salwar suits to now introducing new genres under the banner of “Deepti Designs”, she certainly has brought her style of art a long way which she feels is just the beginning of her long journey.

Despite achieving greater height, Deepti is strongly attached to her roots. She donates a part of her art-auctions to those less-fortunate women artists in the rurals of Bihar who she informally got trained from. She strongly believes that those unnamed artisans are the true keepers of this Indian heritage which is ancient and timeless and the legacy of which needs to be passed on to the generations ahead...

Mad about Chocolates...

Good morning my dear lovelies..

Its December - The month of holidays, month of celebrations..
Lots of love and so many chocolates...
I am totally mad about chocolates, and I am sure there are so many like me " Mad about Chocolate"

"Giving chocolate to others is an intimate form of communication, a sharing of deep, dark secrets.."
(Milton Zelman, publisher of "Chocolate News" )

It was just a thought to crate something in the sweetest colors.. Combining some browns..
And this is what I made..

The second one has touch of turquoise. It was my first attempt putting them together, but these two colors works really well in every time..

Hope you like my work.. Don't forget to check more work updates on my "Facebook Page"

New obsession Polymer clay Embroidery / Applique technique.

Its a fact that making ethnic designs is my first love!
But I always work with other subjects, just for a new experiment and as a learning thing.

My previous obsession was my peacock cane, I made many beautiful pieces, and created my another whole collection. You just need something to inspire you..

I don't know what inspired me this time, but I am working on my polymer clay embroidery.
I an enjoying my work more while making these detailed pieces.

Cute Flower Earrings.

I am getting excellence in my polymer clay cane technique.
I have started with flower petal cane and I am still making same, Flower petal canes.
Summer is here and I am visiting many beautiful places, what inspired me? I don't know but a random thought ( Like always ) created such cute earrings.. (listed at my SHOP )
See your self..

Then for a variation I added Buddha face bead to this earrings, as I have seen many images of Buddha and flowers, and they became the style statement.. Just lovely..
First I made Sakura and Buddha earrings as Sakura / Cherry blossom trees has deep connections with Buddhism. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize the transience of life, which is a major theme in Buddhism. The cherry-blossom tree is known for its short but brilliant blooming season, a natural process that metaphorically describes human life.
But after a success-full attempt I added Buddha to few more flowers and here theyare

Vishnu's Matsya Avatar inspired necklace.

Most of my designs has Indian flavor.
Being a devotee of Krishna, I try to incorporate Krishna in all my work.
Recently I am working on Matsya-Avatar painting on my canvas, and that thought lead me to create such a beautiful and divine neck-piece.

Talking about Matsya Avatar, the First incarnation of Lord Vishnu in form of Fish.
To read more about the Avatar, sharing link of Wikipedia here.

Establishing a mythological subject in a form of a jewelry was indeed difficult.
Where I have to make sure that the story is going well as a jewelry.
Sharing a picture of WIP.
vishnu, matsya, polymer clay, necklace, fish
Talking about detailing in the necklace,
I have added Fish, clay stripes as water, flower / Lotus and Face of Lord Vishnu.
And surprisingly the output was incredible!

I have made this necklace with the techniques of Indian Terracotta clay Art, and so the look of the necklace is just like a piece of terracotta jewelry.
Here is the final necklace.

Since Krishna is 8th incarnation of Vishnu,
I have added a peacock feather, Krishna's face in this necklace.
Since the necklace was appreciated by many people on my Facebook page,
(because I shared it first there- Sorry!! )Now I have decided to make it in colors.
I have not started working on it, but as soon as I finish it, I'll update it in my next blog post.

Till then stay connected!!

Krishna Designs

Hello my dear lovelies..
Everyday I am exploring Polymer clay, and everyday I am learning something new..
My random visit to a craft store surprised me with a push face mold..
And my first thought was my Love Krishna.
When I shared them on my Facebook page , people loved it so much and then I never stopped...
Sharing images of my few Krishna Designs

I named it Krishna-Mala..
With the details of Lotus and Peacock feather, the favorites of Lord Krishna..

This one I named "Shyam - Krishna Mala"

Krishna is also knows as "Shyam" because of his darker skin tone.

It was not my thought, but one of my client asked me to make Krishna Earrings for her,
in Dark Blue tone.. And after making it, I loved it too...

For inquiries you can contact me by sending e-mail, drop me a comment or visit my Facebook page, Mitti Designs
