Fall Fun - Fall inspired Leaf Ring dish made with Polymer Clay

Autumn, the season of Colors, and the season takes leaves from the trees..

Today I have combined both fall colors and leaves in my this project. Such a fun and awesome decor for the beautiful season. I have made this cute Leaf shaped Ring dish but this dish can be used in many ways! Creativity is endless.

DIY - Leaf Ring Dish

Materials and tools

Polymer Clay  - Preferred in Dark Color

Leaf - Larger the batter, Hurry before they all gone

Polymer clay Roller

Craft knife

Pearl-ex pigment - I am using Antique Gold

A good work surface - Flat and scratch proof, Gosh.. we are using knife here..

A small bowl - must be Oven safe

Over - For baking

All set??? So.. Lets begin..

Step 1

Roll the clay, it should bigger than the leaf's size, also I would recommend it thicker than usual.

Step 2

Place leaf and roll once again, with little pressure. We want leave's impression on the clay.

Step 3

Carefully remove leaf. Now its time for color. you can involve kids in this process too.. Take pearl-ex and cover entire leaf with it.. 

Step 4

 Now carefully remove extra clay using craft knife.

The final leaf, gorgeous piece of art!! ready to be shaped..

Step 5

Take leaf from the surface and place it on the up-side down bowl. I have used my clay knife to carefully lift it from the surface.

Step 6

Take the bowl as- it -is and put it in oven for baking. Bake accordingly to the direction written on the clay package. And your leaf bowl is ready!!!!

**** I was not happy with my this white bowl, as I wanted a shallow Dish, so I used a different one. You can also make some adjustments as per your requirements.***

Mitti Designs is the winner of ABS Jan 2015.. Yey!!

It always feels amazing to see your self as a winner in any competition. 

And for an artist its more special because it makes it standout among other artists, it shows the work he is doing is really good and can make him proud.

And my proud moment... 

This month my work/ Mitti Designs won the first prize for the ABS January monthly challange.

Art Beads Scene blog organize a challenge every month, and I have been participating in it almost every month since I came across it. I think for an artist  its a unique way to get inspired and create jewelry / beads from the inspiration painting.

The colors of the painting was just amazing and bright, that I always use them in my work.. I Love bright colors.. You know that!!

And my Morocco inspired necklace was just perfect to submit as my entry for the January Challenge.. 

ABS monthly challenge winners are chosen randomly every month,  and this time, my luck worked.. lol.. that's the best way to say I guess!! 

But what-ever it is.. I feel amazing to stand out as a winner! and that's really matter for me. I won a three months subscription of the Simple Truths Sampler club (54.00 USD) or 50.00 USD certificate from Tesori Trovati.

Mad about Chocolates...

Good morning my dear lovelies..

Its December - The month of holidays, month of celebrations.. 

Lots of love and so many chocolates...

I am totally mad about chocolates, and I am sure there are so many like me " Mad about Chocolate"

It was just a thought to crate something in the sweetest colors.. Combining some browns..

And this is what I made..

The second one has touch of turquoise. It was my first attempt putting them together, but these two colors works really well in every time..

New obsession Polymer clay Embroidery / Applique technique.

Its a fact that making ethnic designs is my first love!

But I always work with other subjects, just for a new experiment and as a learning thing.

My previous obsession was my peacock cane, I made many beautiful pieces, and created my another whole collection. You just need something to inspire you..

I don't know what inspired me this time, but I am working on my polymer clay embroidery.

I an enjoying my work more while making these detailed pieces.

I started my journey of clay Embroidery with this customized necklace and earrings, and It turned out really well. 

And my next customized necklace was even gorgeous, with demand I made two version of it..

Both the designs with some neon Colors...

These days I am making beautiful earrings..

I have named this beautiful earrings - Kashmiri Embroidery earrings, it reminds me gorgeous thread work of Kashmir ( India)

These earrings I made for "Art Bead Scene'"s August challenge - "The Indian Rug".

It was fun making this beautiful pair with the color of the challenge's inspiration art work

 I made it with Polymer clay, Brass, Swarovski Crystals, Swarovski Rhinestones, Moss Agate.

So far it is my Fav. Beautiful inspiration and I hope, I did justice to the subject.

Peacock feathers inspired Designs

May be I am not the only one who is deeply in love with Peacock!

I am sure, there are many like me...

Beautiful bird and lots of inspirations.. Krishna loves peacock and my First peacock feather cane I made when I was making "Krishna Mala."

Since last month if you check my Facebook page I am just making designs that has peacock feathers, and believe me I am enjoying them alot..

The never ending designs, and I want to cover almost everything with these gorgeous feathers.

I have made 3 different peacock feather cane, One is Indian peacock, white peacock and third one has dark purple and gold combination, that is from the image I found on Pintrest...

Cute Flower Earrings.

I am getting excellence in my polymer clay cane technique.

I have started with flower petal cane and I am still making same, Flower petal canes.

Summer is here and I am visiting many beautiful places, what inspired me? I don't know but a random thought ( Like always ) created such cute earrings.. (listed at my SHOP )

Then for a variation I added Buddha face bead to this earrings, as I have seen many images of Buddha and flowers, and they became the style statement.. Just lovely..

First I made Sakura and Buddha earrings as Sakura / Cherry blossom trees has deep connections with Buddhism. In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize the transience of life, which is a major theme in Buddhism. The cherry-blossom tree is known for its short but brilliant blooming season, a natural process that metaphorically describes human life.

But after a success-full attempt I added Buddha to few more flowers and here theyare

Dreaming Blue !! - A polymer clay covered tin / box

Visit of my local craft store gives me tones of new ideas every time..

This time I found a stainless still tin and thought to make it look different and unique.

Then a question, what can be done on this?? 
Something like flowers, hmm something related to kids or religion?? 
Naaa, not a single thought match with my imagination of beautiful box..

And suddenly there was rain out-side.. Wow - A dark night and clouds what an Idea!!

Presenting  - Dreaming Blue - Polymer clay covered tin.
The tin measures 4" in diameter and 2" height. As this is an up-cycled item, it does bear markings which I left intact.

I am in love with this box now, I was thinking something like this only. Just perfect.. and beautiful.

 Happy me.. can't think something more than this.!!

I have also covered its sides and given them rough snake skin texture and some random clouds too...

My journey in learning Polymer clay cane Technique.

These days I am learning Polymer clay Cane techniques.

It is something I never experimented before.

What I learned and things I made with this technique was extremely beautiful, but my journey in learning this technique is even interesting. 

Below image - Sakura flower Zumka made with Polymer clay Petal cane.

It was spring time and I decided to make Cherry blossom petal cane for my experiment ..

Beautiful pinks formed in shape of Flower petal.

In beginning it was really easy, Just shape the colors and you are done....

Wow, how Easy!!!! But its not....

Like other techniques, I had to face few challenges.

First challenge is to reduce that cane and maintain its shape.

And if you managed to reduce it properly, then the biggest challenge is to slice is evenly and maintain its shape.

I took some four days to learn this basic.. In above image you can see my first cane and the way I managed to retain its shape..

Sharing few earrings I made with this cane. They are indeed beautiful and unique.

Creativity is endless with this technique, I am still learning it.
