Art bead scene's November challenge has a very interesting painting by Martin Johnson Heade,
Beautiful "Cattleya Orchid and Three Hummingbirds". Amazing color combination and a beautiful inspiration.
Being an artist I use my polymer clay as my canvas and colors to paint my version of the painting.
My orchid and humming bird pendent. I used polymer clay applique technique to achieve this pendent. For the background created a wood effect base and colored with pearl-ex powders, and then created polymer clay orchid and little humming bird.
Colors in the painting are just so beautiful, I thought not to miss any shade if the main colors, and so I created Ombre effect beads.
And then I combined these two in a amazing necklace!!
My Orchid and humming bird necklace.
Another view..
My imaginations didn't stopped after making this stunning piece.
I created another necklace of Humming bird and Orchid..
This time a choker necklace.
A simple necklace were a bird is flying towards this flower.. I didn't add any color to this one and made like faux silver.. this way it has the simplicity and more uniqueness.
I hope you like my work inspired by ABS's November challenge.
Each month the Art Bead Scene hosts a monthly challenge featuring an inspiring piece of art work.
Since last three months I am taking part in the challenge, and creating my pieces as per the theme painting. And just amazed with the results.. take a look, sharing my work, inspired by the theme paintings.
In September I missed to take part in it, and In October this colorful painting remained me my peacock earrings, so I submitted them as my entry for the challenge.
This month I am working on the theme and in process of creating another stunning necklace/
Polymer clay Daily is a very known blog in the world of polymer clay creation. Its a dream for every polymer clay artist, and Its such an honor to get featured at Polymer Clay Daily.
It is Dusshera Today (Indian Festival), and this was a sweet gift by Cynthia.
Cynthia Tinapple, who writes this blog, is a recognized artist in the world of Polymer clay. She recently published a book Polymer Clay Global Perspectives , which has collected more than a hundred works of artists polymer clay from around the world. Read more about the feature at - From painting to Polymer
When I submitted my work at the web-site, Cynthia responded with a special e-mail, and her that first E-mail is very special to me. In that e-mail she wrote, she recognized me and my paintings. She pinned my one of my painting two years ago and she knows my work since then.. Honestly as an Artist it was a big moment for me, an achievement, that she recognized me even after 2 years.. I was literally jumping on my couch that day.
Well, this is a proud moment to see my work at PCD, and I am soooo happy!!
Its been 5 years, I have started working with polymer clay.
So far I have tried every techniques in Polymer clay, but I know there are tones of new things to learn.. Its never ending.. Working with clay is fun!!
After my peacock collection, I have found my new love these days..
"Polymer clay Applique / Embroidery technique.".
In one line - I am working with tiny clay balls, and creating unique designs with a needle tool..
Previously I have created few designs with this technique, but my recent Pintrest numbers encouraged me to create many more. My two earrings designs - Blue mango and Pink on Purple has been pinned more then 40 times.. And this little thing encouraged me to create more with the embroidery designs..
Talking about Embroidery technique, My most favorite detailing piece was made for my client.. I still love colors and detailing of that gorgeous necklace.. Gorgeousness with the neon colors. I am not a big fan of neon colors but when I put all of them together, they didn't look that bad! A fun Summer necklace..
In my next post I'll share my recent work - My embroidery designs.
If you are selling your products on-line, its pretty obvious that you have to take good pictures of your products, if you want to stay in the race.
Professional looking pictures are the key thing to attract many visitors and buyers.
If you can take a good, a decent looking, that explains your product more then your words.
Yes, you need a professional photo box / a light box / or a photo studio kit.
Most of the people has budget problem, and its a pretty obvious that many would not prefer to spend hundreds of dollars for those fancy kits.
To solve this problem I have found my own way, and after seeing above picture , my "Cherry blossom Zumka earrings" you will be surprised that I was able to take such a good picture without spending any extra penny!!
I have seen many light-box tutorial videos, indeed they are cheaper then Fancy kits, and has good functionality. But to make them you need a cardboard box, white- fabric / t-shirt and three external lamps..
But In my version of photo-box I have cut down cost of white fabric / t-shirt and external lamps..
I made my photo-box with recycle box, parchment paper from my kitchen, scotch tape.
And for back-ground I used regular printer paper.
My version of light-box works best in day-light so don't need any external / extra lights.
So the final cost comes to Zero. A very useful product made with regular household things.
I have made video that explains all the steps how to make this photo-box.
Hope this tutorial will help you to take good pictures of your jewelry and other product.

Its a fact that making ethnic designs is my first love!
But I always work with other subjects, just for a new experiment and as a learning thing.
My previous obsession was my peacock cane, I made many beautiful pieces, and created my another whole collection. You just need something to inspire you..
I don't know what inspired me this time, but I am working on my polymer clay embroidery.
I an enjoying my work more while making these detailed pieces.
I started my journey of clay Embroidery with this customized necklace and earrings, and It turned out really well.
And my next customized necklace was even gorgeous, with demand I made two version of it..
Both the designs with some neon Colors...
These days I am making beautiful earrings..
I have named this beautiful earrings - Kashmiri Embroidery earrings, it reminds me gorgeous thread work of Kashmir ( India)
Right after I first made my First necklace on Vishnu's incarnation - Matsya Avatar,
I was so curious to make a series on Vishnu's Incarnation.
I have already made two out of his 10 incarnation, Matsya the first, and Krishna the eight.
Now my eye was on second incarnation, "Kurma".
The Story of Kurma Avatar : During the "Samudra Manthan", as the mount Mandara began to sink down to the ocean, Lord Vishnu taking the form KURMA bore the entire mountain on his back.
Kurma means Turtle, and to create that as a necklace was a good challenge. IT has to look like Vishnu's incarnation and it also has to look good as a necklace..
Well, sharing my third necklace in Vishnu's Incarnation series.
"Kurma Avatar"
Vishnu's face pendent with turtle body.
For turtle, first I made Dome shaped hollow bead with my gold and green cane, then attached face and legs.
It took some three days to figure out and finish this pendent.
For the chain, I made Lotus beads. Lotus is a favorite flower of Lord Vishnu, and it was something came to my mind first. Then I added gold seed beads and green wood beads to complete it.
Here is the full necklace!
IT was really a fun project and a good test for my imaginations as-well.
May be I am not the only one who is deeply in love with Peacock!
I am sure, there are many like me...
Beautiful bird and lots of inspirations.. Krishna loves peacock and my First peacock feather cane I made when I was making "Krishna Mala."
Since last month if you check my Facebook page I am just making designs that has peacock feathers, and believe me I am enjoying them alot..
The never ending designs, and I want to cover almost everything with these gorgeous feathers.
I have made 3 different peacock feather cane, One is Indian peacock, white peacock and third one has dark purple and gold combination, that is from the image I found on Pintrest...
And what I made with them, just scroll down and have fun. !!!
Hope you liked them.
